Fall Winter 2007: Jil Sander

My other favorite collection comes from Raf Simons, the Belgian designer of Jil Sander. His clothes are minimalist and architectural, just beautiful dresses, jackets and coats that stand on structure and fabric.

No sequins, feathers, wild colors, fringes and other things that distract the eye (and are often used by less talented designers to cover up for, you guessed it, the lack of talent).

I have loved every collection designed by Raf Simons for Jil Sander. I think he joined the fashion house a couple of years ago. His background is in menswear, which requires more skill in structure, draping, and cutting than womenswear. Other designers that come close to Raf Simon’s style are Alber Elbaz, another favorite of mine, now designing at Lanvin and Narciso Rodriguez.

Check out the entire collection here.
