Tour de France 2007: Vansevenant close to his second lanterne rouge

Wim Vansevenant is only 2 stages away from earning his second lanterne rouge. The only two riders to hold this honor are the Belgian Daniel Masson (1922 and 1923) and Austrian Gerhard Schönbacher (1979 and 1980). Tomorrow’s time trial will be thrilling – who will come in last but not get eliminated?

Watch this video interview of Vansevenant last week (in Flemish with French subtitles).

Update: International Herald Tribune has an article on Vansevenant – Belgian works hard to finish last in Tour.

  1. Thanks for this great info. Do you know all the riders who have been Lantern Rouge more than once? I know Jimmy Casper was in 2001 and 2004. Anybody been LR more than twice, I wonder?

    cheers,

    Matt
