The “Office de la population” of the municipality of Zurich has posted a dress code for its employees: no tattoos, piercings or underwear should be visible, no heavy makeup and wild manicures, no gym shoes and no heavy perfume. Also banned are:
- plunging necklines
- backless dresses
- revealing blouses
- multicolored hair
- strong odors: perspiration or perfume
Back in the 1980s, one of my friends was arrested by the Zurich police for sitting in a park reading the newspaper in brightly colored shorts. The cops thought he was wearing underwear, which at that time, one could not wear in public. I don’t know if this is still the case.
